In December 2025, the 25th College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) Scientific Conference took place in Burundi.

Dr. Fabrice Lele Mutombo won the BJS Prize for his paper titled: ‘Development and validation of the Geriatric Abdominal Surgery Predictive (GASP) score.’
